Evergreen shrub reaching 4 m with slender glabrous branches, 3-7 lobed maple-like leaves, 7-15 cm long and broad, upper often unlobed (variegated in this cultivar); flowers solitary on axilaary up to 15 cm long peduncles, nodding; calyx deeply cleft, pubescent; petals 2-5 cm long, yellow or orangish with often darker veins; staminal column slightly longer than petals.

Kindly help to id this Malvaceae shrub found at Ooty town, Nilgiris.

Height/Length- 2 m long
Leaves Type/ Shape/ Size- ca.15 x 10 cm; lobed
Inflorescence Type/ Size- single
Flowers Size/ Colour/ Calyx/ Bracts- orange; c. 5 cm across 

Abutilon pictum (Gillies ex Hooker) Walpers, Repert. Bot. Syst. 1: 324. 1842. cultivar: ‘Thompsonii’

syn: Sida picta Gillies ex Hooker; Abutilon striatum Dickson ex Lindley 
Common names: Painted Indian Mallow, Chinense cultivar
This cultivar with variegated leaves is known as ‘Thompsonii’

Does this plant has variegated leaves or its just because of senescence the yellow patches have developed.
