Brownea for sure. Not B.rosea. Most probably B.coccinea.


Yes most likely b. coccinea… that’s the plate of ID on the trees in the Agri-Hort garden in Kolkata…
parrots (rose ringed parakeets???) love to eat this flower/ flower bud… I have spied them eating the flower both at the Kol Bot G and at the Chinatmoni Kar bird sanctuary…

I have a single photograph of this species. An article in ‘Science Reporter’ june, 2012 issue suggests this might be Brownea coccinea Jacq.
