Looks like Calanthe sylvatica (Orchidaceae). Pl validate.


The plant do apparently looks like Calanthe sylvatica (Thouars) Lindl. but its hard to confirm as in all the pictures the flowers are over exposed or distorted. I will kindly request … to post any other picture/s of the plant if available with him.

Orchidaceae fortnight :: Calanthe for ID:: Nilgiris :: MK01 : Attachments (9). 4 posts by 4 authors. 
Please help me to identify this ground Orchid. I noticed a good population as shady undergrowth. The habitat is an evergreen forest. Height of plant with scape is up to one metre.
Leaf: up to 30cm long
Place: Kothagiri RF, Nilgiris, TN
Date: 16 Aug 2013 (seen flowering in mid of July too)

Alt.: 2200 m asl


These are Calanthe sylvatica!!! Beautiful coloured orchid. Thanks a lot for sharing.
