Caper Bush in Keoladeo National Park, Bharatpur:
May 2012: Keoladeo National Park, Bharatpur: Caper Bush, Capparis sepiaria lining both sides of the dykes.
I observed hundreds of Pioneer butterflies feeding on this plant. Few other butterfly species too!

I remember observing many butterflies in Bharatpur few years back. The association between Pioneer butterflies and Capparaceae is well known.

Requesting identification of this wild plant seen in Karjat. The unripe and ripe fruits are there in the photos. The plant is spiny. I couldn’t figure out if it is a shrub or climber in the thicket. Thanks.

In  my view  ಕತ್ತಿರಿ ಗಿಡ kattiri gida needs to be written as follows:

ಕತ್ತರಿ ಗಿಡ  Katthari gida or ಕತ್ರಿಗಿಡ  Kathri gida .
Here Katthari or Kathri  means scissors &  gida meaning plant. Nevertheless, transliteration of   ಕತ್ತರಿ  is either katthari or kathri. Both are valid.

Kannada name revised.
