Herbs, root parasites; stem simple scaly; scales broadly ovate, obtuse. Flowers white, in racemes. Capsule upto 1 cm across, globose crowned by persistent calyx teeth. Seeds minute, reticulate, ovoid or subglobose.
Glabrous herbs; stems to 6 cm long. Flowers many, closely packed; peduncle 1.5-2 cm long; bracts 5 x 7 mm, orbicular; calyx 22 mm long, lobes ovate, acute, cuspidate; corolla 4 cm long, more or less 2-lipped above, lobes rounded, glabrous; fertile anthers of upper stamens 3 x 2 mm, ovoid, sterile lobe 7 mm long, straight, compressed; filament 1 cm long; lower stamens with shorter anthers, filaments 2.5 cm long; ovary 7 x 3 mm, conical, glabrous; style 3 cm long, stigma peltate, pubescent. Flowering and fruiting: April-July

Came across this root Parasitic herb on the roots of Carvia callosa at “Prabalgad Fort” near Panvel, Maharashtra. I had spotted this root parasite at many other places but always under Carvia Callosa plant..
