Flower ID Request 20111028:
I grabbed this pic of a plant growing on the edge of a pond in IIT Bombay. Please let me know what flowers they could be. The plant had grown to be about five feet in height and had tiny leaves, as can be seen (though not very clearly) in the pic.

Cosmos sulphureus

Is the flower yellow or pink and white? If yellow, then Cosmos sulphureus, if pink it may be C. caudatus (just guessing)

Thank you … I did not see any flowers so don’t know.

Cosmos Sulfureus ‘Cosmic Yellow’

Yes. Plenty in my house. It is propagated very easily by seeds. Once you plant one in your garden it spreads around by the fallen seeds in the next season. Another orange colour is also common here
