I saw a person collecting the leaves of this small shrub saying this is a diabetics tree – does anyone know the name of this and how it helps us? Costus igneus is the insulin plant. Traditionally people consume its leaves to bring down blood sugar. It is Costus speciosus (Koenig) J.E. Smith, Costaceae It is called Insulin plant – Costus igneus.
