A Photograph of Crawfurdia, possibly Crawfurdia angustata, as suggested by … of Flowersofindia. These flowers were found in an open patch in Upper Dibang Valley, Arunachal Pradesh.

Beautiful vine. I’ve not seen it before. Thanks for posting.

I checked Crawfurdia and it appears more common in parts of China etc.
It is possible that the flora of Arunachal has a lot in common with the flora of China?

During the last ice age (1,10000 yrs before present to 12,000 yrs bp) many plants from China, Siberia and Japan descended south to the S.E.Asian countries. After the ice age with global warming they moved northward once again, and many of then got shelter in the Eastern Himalayas in that course. most prominent are Primula, Rhododendron species. So no wonder you will find many chinese elements in A.P., It has no significance and relevance of China’s claim on A.P.

Some flowers from Arunachal Pradesh-1 : 5 posts by 2 authors.

Some flowers from Upper Dibang Valley, Arunachal Pradesh:-
1060053 & 1060057 : tubular, light purple flowers.

1060053 & 1060057 : tubular, light purple flowers.- may be Crawfurdia speciosa from Gentianaceae, see the links: http://www.dungevalley.co.uk/Olangchungola/06.%20Crawfurdia%20speciosa.jpg (a picture), http://flickr.com/photos/25530142@N08/2447754379/ (a picture), http://www.kew.org/mng/gallery/249.shtml (a painting),

I think close to images at Crawfurdia angustata C.B.Clarke rather than those of Crawfurdia speciosa Wallich
