Plant for ID SMP1 28/03/2011:
A very small herb. Near Phansad/Roha
Prostrate…total length might be around 20-30cm.
Flower size less than a cm white
Growing in dry paddy fields on 19 March 2011.
Most of the flowering was over though we could capture some flowers.

Please review the Tamil name for this plant. The name uppucanaka/uppusanaka may be a Telugu name.

Cressa is one more genus which has 2 styles along with Evolvulus Bonamia and Volulopsis
A small herb often found growing in dry rice farms in Konkan.
Similar to Evolvulus……….
It is not a climber or twiner.
Styles 2 free
Corolla entire infundibuliform.
Petals imbricate(Contorted in Evolvulus)
Stamens exserted(Included in Evolvulus)
Stigmas 2 (4 in Evolvulus)

A small herb woody at base, branched in upper part; leaves sessile, closely set, 3-8 mm long,; ovate-lanceolate, pubescent; flowers small in clusters at tips of branches; calyx 3-4 mm long; corolla 5-6 mm long, lobes as long as tube; stamens exserted; ovary 2-celled; fruit ovoid, 3-4 mm long with single seed.

I can see the exerted stamens. 2 stigmas and divided corolla.
