Common Name: Himalayan pincushion Plant Family: Diapensiaceae Flowering: May-June Altitude: 3600-4400m On our way to Gurudongmar Lake in NSikkim Tour, we found this carpet-like plant, densely packed with flowers and tiny crowded leathery leaves. White or pink funnel-shaped flowers are stalk less. This should actually be Diapensia purpurea. In Diapensia himalaica the flower-tube is about 2 times longer than sepals, whereas in Diapensia purpurea, the flower-tube is about as long as the sepals.
