VALMIKI : OBSERVER OF NATURE:  Valmiki mentioned BHAVYA in his Ramayan. Scientifically this tree is known as Dillenia indica. It is known as CHALTA in Hindi and Bangla.
Found in damp evergreen forests at the foot of the Himalayas from, Nepal eastwards. It becomes plentiful from S Kanara southwards (Distribution is from Edible Wild Plants of The Himalayas by R L Badhwar and R R Fernandez). The white flower reminds one of the flower of Magnolia Grandiflora. Attaching an image of Dillenia indica.

My Flora Picture of the Year – 2011 – Dillenia indica: Waited for two years to see it bloom, as I was always away when it bloomed.
Finally got a shot when it was cloudy, still waiting to get a good shot when its sunny.

Lovely photo, … Always very-2 difiicult to click an open flower

Really a complete beautiful picture. The leaves, the pollinator etc.
I liked the idea someone had described earlier : It looks as if A flower in a flower.
