Nice photographs of Indian-Arrow Root.
In most of the villages when villagers say “Aarrarrot“, i think they mean Arrow-Root. Its rich in starch.
One can spot thousands of them at “Raireshwar”.

In my mother-tongue, Konkani (Mangalore) too, we say it something like this: RRroot !!

Hitchenia caulina
Indian arrowroot (Chavar in Marathi)

Hitchenia caulina
Zingiberaceae

Very nice. These are in fairly large numbers. Also found in nearby areas of similar altitudes like Rayreshwar, Mahabaleshwar, etc.

is it the source of Arrowroot powder?

Nice photographs … I think the last photograph is from the stream joining Kas lake. Plants at such inaccessible locations usually survive.

I had missed it the last time I visited this place. However, this time due to delayed rains, the flower show was on in October as well.
