Please identify the small spiny structures on the twig of Jatropha. Seems to be some sort of infection; they are not insects. yes they are insects…. It seems to me mealy bug (Paracoccus sp.) infestation. It is very very highly devastating nature. It attacks almost all plants with latex and mucilage. Mostly prevalent in dry locations. Infestation is less during rains. in Tamilnadu especially in Coimbatore all most all hibiscus (shoe flower) plants have been killed by this insect. It has protection from ants also. If any body have seen such infestation kindly inform … Will he be able to help in case of root mealy bugs too? I think so, He can help you. .
