I too think that this is Lepidagathis cuspidata of Acanthaceae family. It seems that this species shows lots of variation both inflorescence and leaves.

Lepidagathis cuspidata: Sharing few photographs of “Kate-Adulsa“.
Bot. name: Lepidagathis cuspidata
Family: Acanthaceae
Date/Time: 22-01-2012 / 12:30PM
Location: Kalawantin (near Prabalgad), Maharashtra
Habitat: Wild
Plant habit: small spiny shrub

This is very interesting. The local people call it Kate Adulsa and Adulsa is for Adathoda I assume. Kate if you translate in Latin is “cuspidate” means spine bearing or pointed. So basically locals know that they belong to same family without any professional botanical expertise.
I have some pic of same from Himalaya. Will find out and share soon.

Very nice pix indeed. This species is also found in Morni Hills, Haryana. Attaching one of my pics.

Family: Acanthaceae
Date: 24th March 2015
Place: Mullayanagiri, Chikamagalur, Karnataka
Habit: Herb
Habitat: Grasslands

Lepidagathis sp., very likely L. cuspidata.

Thank you very much sir. How would this differ from Lepidagathis fasciculata?

Reference pages for Lepidagathis fasciculata and Lepidagathis cuspidata.

Keys available at Species with description & keys in Flora of Pakistan (Upper leaves, bracts and bracteoles cuspidate or spine-tipped in Lepidagathis cuspidata & not in Lepidagathis fasciculata)
See FOI pages at Striped Lepidagathis & Spiny Lepidagathis respectively

In view I will also go with Lepidagathis cuspidata

Thank you … I will take it as Lepidagathis cuspidata.

Likely L. cuspidata. Similar dense spike inflorescence and spine tips on bracts as appears to be on photos.

Check plant height, L.cuspidata is said to be about a metre high, whereas fasciculata is called a herb/undershrub, actually ‘prostrate ‘ in FOPak, so perhaps is shorter.

There is good amount of info on different species of Lepidagathis of Karnataka at JCB herbarium

Thank you very much. Yes, I am convinced about L. cuspidata.

I had posted the following plant on eflora and the view seems to be Lepidagathis cuspidada.

I have a strong doubt about the suggested id. Since several features are not matching.

Could you please endorse if it is otherwise.

Yes, id is correct as Lepidagathis cuspidata Nees
