May species of Melanocenchrus ????????

Yes i agree with …, it could be Melanocenchris abyssinica

This is Melanocenchris jacquemontii. This is the most common species of this genus in India. M.monoica is perennial, whereas M.abyssinica has larger spikelet clusters. This plant is only 7cm in all and hence the spikelets are definitely less than a cm. including the awns.
