Blue Oxalis (Parochetus communis)
http://www.flowersofindia.Blue%20Oxalis.html

Thanks again, … Am assuming both are the same? though one looks purple but then you mentioned some time ago that colour doesnt matter!

not an expert but one appeares to be of pap or fabaceae family while the other appears to some sps of Oxalis?
is the second a runner?

While I was deciding on the upload of my photographs of Parochetus communis from Manali, I stumbled upon this mail. I wish to point out that whereas the second photograph is probably of Parochetus, the
first one is clearly a different legume with pinnate trifoliate leaf (middle leaflet has longer stalk than other two),
whereas Paochetus has palmate trifoliate leaves (all equally long stalks or sessile).
Perhaps we will have to explore the identity of first photograph. I have not reached any conclusion yet.

Plz confirm id Parochetus sp.:
Its a species of Parochetus communis or any another species of Parochetus.
On leaves of Parochetus communis black and yellow lines are present on the attached plant the black line is followed by red line.
Recorded from Near Jang village in Tawang Dist of Arunachal Pradesh Flw: December Elevation 2000 m

Parochetus communis or commonly Shamrock Pea I have seen them in Himalayas too generally found near the water bodies,

Apart form its BLUE, The leaf pattern I liked more.

It is a species of Parochetus (Fabaceae) and not Oxalis (Oxalidaceae). It is known as blue oxalis, because flowers and blue and leaves look somewhat like Oxalis genus. It is the same way as wood rose is not a species of Rosa.

Current pic was taken near Valley of Flowers in Uttarakhand.

I love that unique blue colour of the flowers. On searching through earlier mails, I noticed that it was observed in Sikkim (… ) Arunachalam (…) Chamba (…) and by … also apart from Valley of flowers.
A somewhat similar plant Desmodium triflorum from western ghats was also got mis IDed as this but later corrected as the flower colour and the leaf pattern is different.
(Just sharing my analysis)

Balsaminaceae, Geraniaceae and Oxalidaceae Week :: MN02 :: Blue oxalis from Ghangaria, Uttarakhand:
Blue oxalis (Parochetus communis )
Location : Ghangaria – Uttarakhand
Date : August 2012

Parochetus communis is a common prostrate or creeping herb on moist ground in Uttarakhand. The name ‘Blue Oxalis’, I am not aware of, moreover it is misleading as the plant do not belong to Oxalis genus, rather it belongs to Fabaceae (legumes).

Thanks …, for correcting the ID and sorry for the mistake. From the name I thought it is from the Oxalis family. I should have checked before sending.
