Location – Chakrata,Uttarakhand. Date- 04.10.2009 Habitat –Wild Persicaria capitata (Polygonaceae).
Persicaria capitata (Buch.-Ham. ex D. Don) H. Gross (accepted name) : 4 posts by 3 authors. Attachments (2) Location: Pilot Baba Ashram, Bhaktapur , Nepal This is a distinctive plant. Recorded between Godawari and Phulchoki @ 2300-2800m @ Sheopuri @ 2440-2740m in ‘Flora of Kathmandu Valley’. Stewart only occasionally came across it @ 1200-1800m in Hazara and Kashmir, commenting it was common to the east. Collet found it to be very common on rocks & walls at Shimla; there is a line drawing of it in Flora Simlensis.
Flowers of Himalaya say cultivated areas, banks & rocks; common Pakistan to SW China @ 600-2400m.
‘Enumeration of Flowering Plants of Nepal’ give 2400m as it upper limit, so rather odd that ‘Flora of Kathmandu’ should record it at and indeed above its previous known altitudinal limits.
Cultivated in the UK. I last saw it growing on a bank en route to Dalhousie from Chamba side.

27 March 2016 wonderful faces of these tiny flowers … you know i am greedy…now i want to see the v mark on the leaves… while you are at it.. if you have the heart to uproot one of these weedy things So nice to see the close ups. Thank you …. , I will pull out one and photograph the features you asked for. The leaves with ‘V’, I have shared before too, but I will do so again. Here are the leaves again as promised. I pulled out the plant rather clumsily and am not sure if I got the whole root. Could you see from these what you were hoping?
While looking at the plant closely I found disc like growths on leaf axils. Including those pictures too. 7 images. Through your lens, we are seeing many aspects not seen in earlier postings.
