… a guess, MacArthur palmPtychosperma macarthurii

I found one more picture taken earlier at the same place on the 20th of May, 2007.
Would this help in identifying the palm?

.. ID is correct. Usually for palms pictures showing stem and leaf characters are useful for ID.

MacArthur Palm?
Kindly confirm id.

Ptychosperma macarthuri, but hardly any leaves visible to be sure. More pics should have been given.

Thanks for the id. I agree that I should have taken more pictures.

In such a beautiful place, I could spend very little time. In that time which was available, there were heavy showers.
Also, we had to start off early to reach another place before 3 pm, as later the mist comes up and visibility is reduced.
… had asked me whether I had checked the fragrance of a particular flower. Had written to him, I was almost running from one plant/tree to the other.
No time to check how the picture has come out, check on the fragrance.
Unfortunately, I have just this one picture.

At the time of photographing I thought these were also fruits of Dypsis, for I didn’t notice leaves then and it was also growing beside those Dypsis, Now, I see it is not Dypsis, but Ptychosperma, may be same species to my IBG record.
I don’t have any more photographs, recorded yesterday.

Forwarding again for Id confirmation or otherwise please as Ptychosperma macarthurii (H.Wendl. ex H.J.Veitch) H.Wendl. ex Hook.f.

Palm for ID

Dear friends,
Please help in knowing this palm. I hope the photos show at least some aspects to know the genus. I will be glad to know ID to genus level.

reminds me of Ptychosperma sp palm. based on the little bit of the stem i see and the leaf. the overall inflorescence would droop once laden with red fruits.

Thanks very much, …, for the hint. Let us wait for one or two validating comments.

of course. i just remember seeing it at green mall nursery. i am not a palm expert, even remotely. one who is … of the green mall of www. sahayoghortica.com
email: palms@ at the website above. another is Palmbob or dr stein at daves garden, who is a palm expert here, i do not know. … perhaps knows

my second choice is Balaka sp palms

Calamus sp.?

Yes, very much possible … Must be. Could be some rattan.
I must have thought of it the way it is planted next to wall for some support.

Pl. check with comparative images at Arecaceae

OK, thanks …

no so easy, is it?

I thought Calamus would be spiny. This one doesnt look spiny!!

Please check with Ptychosperma macarthurii?

I am no palm expert anyways…

I agree with … for Ptychosperma macarthurii as per images and details herein.
