Perennial herb with short rhizome, 2-3 leaves, oblong-lanceolate, up to 12 cm long; flowers purple or lilac, opening one at a time, peduncle enclosed by leaf sheath; calyx 4-5 cm long, corolla exserted from calyx, central lobe erect circular with apiculate apex, lateral lobes reflexed.

07 August 2016. It is Roscoea species Roscoea species so far in efi: Roscoea alpina & Roscoea purpurea I found these plants seeding on my walk yesterday and I took some photos to aid identification. 4 images. Flowers required for confirmation I thought the earlier photos in the thread were flowers but I may be wrong. Thank you very much … I did not even think of Roscoe alpina which I have photographed and posted from here before. As per this image, we could be seeing the seeds of R. alpina only. Please advise.
