Glabrous erect perennial herb up to 1 m tall; leaves ovate lanceolate, 5-10 cm long, strongly 3-nerved, acuminate; flowers white or pinkish, 2.5-4 cm across, in dense terminal corymbs; bracts lanceolate; calyx tubular, 16-20 mm long, green or tinged purple, obscurely veined, lobes ovate; petals with emarginate tip, linear appendages at the base of limb; capsule 1.5 cm long, cylndric-ovoid.

Was growing in Shimla Water Catchment Reserve Forest just 100 m below the highway. May be wild or garden escape.

I have seen this growing near a helipad (surrounded by many Hotels) in Pelling (Sikkim), and nowhere else…!!
