Could this be Spatholobus parviflorus?

Absolutely right … If not in flowers, the local name ‘Palashin’ often leads to a wrong ID as Butea superba.

Please help me with the Bengali name salmama of Spatholobus parviflorus, in native script.
Reference: Flora of Assam Vol. II
Most probably sal refers to sal tree – Shorea robusta

Salmama in Bengali script: শালমামা

…, I am curious to know whether this name has any meaning. It appears only in one site (in Bangla script).

Absolutely no meaning … Sal is what you know but mama means brother of mother! In Assam some Bengali dialects are there and it may be some of them!

OK, thanks … I can only think that this climbing shrub has some affinity to Sal trees. Its Assamese name is শাল লতা sal lata; Nepali name is साल लहरा sal lahara.
In a white paper – Species composition, distribution, life forms and folk nomenclature of forest and common land plants of western Chitwan, Nepal, the etymology of sal lahara is a plant that climbs on “Sal” (Shorea robusta Gaertn.)
It could most probably be that this plant Spatholobus parviflorus is funnily called as Sal Uncle in Bengali !

I agree with you.

fruits beans flowers?

No mam. Don’t found any flowers or fruits.

I was wondering what are these things

number 1 and 2 particularly
esp #1 seems to have some periodicity to squarish structures?
are they some old dried breaking up bean pods?
if they are, there should be dried up beans/seeds laying on the ground around about there.
i circled these and numbered them in red
if you dont see them as shown by gmail, look below it by clicking  the mouse on the picture,
choose and click on original size option. that will  enlarge it , you will see the mark ups
