This was growing in a rock crevice, did not see any other plant of this species around…

Kindl help in the ID of this shrub with unopened flowers on and with long peduncles, leaves looking something like Ipomoea carnea. Photographed from Tiger Fall area of Chakrata in September.
Though the pics are inconclusive to me but what comes in the mind first is Spermadictyon suaveolens Roxb. (Rubiaceae). If it is, then it will produce bluish flowers later.

Leaves on being rubbed emit very foul smell, hence known as padari in lower parts of Himachal Pradesh.

Yes, correctly guessed. It is Spermadictyon suaveolens (Rubiaceae).
Very correct. It is common shrub in open grasslands all over Himachal. Leaves when macerated among fingers give very foul smell.
