I believe this is Tephrosia uniflora ssp. petrosa from Jodhpur. Basing the id on the description in Flora of the Indian Desert by M.M. Bhandari.

There is an interesting note regarding T. uniflora at the end of the description.

Here is the note from the Flora:

Tephrosia uniflora ssp. petrosa Blatt & Hall described from the Indian desert has been regarded as conspecific with the Arabian plant which has been named T. uniflora Pers. But due to certain differences in the number of leaflets, length of pods, number of seeds per pod and the nature of indumentum T. petrosa Blatt.nd Hall. has been given a subspecific rank in T. uniflora Pers. since acccording to Gillett (1958) in N. W. tropical Africa and the Red Sea coast of Arabia occur plants which combine the characater of the Indian and Arabian plants.

The epithet uniflora is misleading since it has at least 2 flowers in each axil.

Recently there was a perplexing post from Maharashtra in Indian Flora, it was posted as I. trita, I did not agree and suspected it to be a Tephrosia.

After lot of persistence, more input from posting member, T. uniflora was suspected. Finally I identified it as a probable specimen of T. senticosa.

During course of this investigation, I realised there are many more species with axillary flowers, T. pentaphylla, T. strigosa, T. senticosa being notable ones,

Also there are T. jamnagarensis and T. axillaris.

This screenshot was again from an article on JSTOR free to read, not for free download, but pretty old, either 59 or 69 or near about,

it was a revision of Tephrosia in East Africa. I took screenshot because of the species involved and good description of the two subspecies.

This paper and Flora of Pakistan say we have only subsp. petrosa , but who can say with certainty !!! A lot is to be explored !!

This is certainly Tephrosia uniflora locally known as ‘Bhakar Biyani’ mostly found in gravel and rocky habits. This was confirmed from flora of Indian desert by M.M. Bhandari.

It’s Tephrosia uniflora.

Locally called as Bhaker Biyani. Bhaker means gravel land, stonny.

This plant is reported in Flora of desert by M.M. Bhandari. I am sure this infirnation would be useful.

T. u. subsp. unoflora is not found in India, as far as I know, we have T. u. subsp. petrosa which is distributed from India (Raj.) to Pakistan and all the way to Arabian peninsula where some intermediate forms are also found .
