Considered as sacred fruit in some region.
… was looking for a picture of this plant.
Wow, thanks … for posting this. Yes, as … said i was hunting for pictures of Terminalia, espl from northeast region.

I’ll post my collections from Moreh Forest Guest House in Manipur which i thought as this species. But the fruits somewhat resemble that of T. chebula.

Tree for identification. Assam : Attachments (2). 6 posts by 4 authors.
This photograph is not great but if the tree species can be identified from its fruits I shall be obliged. This tree is on the road in Kaziranga, Assam. The bark is a splotchy pale in colour.
It looks like a Terminalia sp. to me, more of T. citrina. Pl. check.
The fruits of this species (T.citrina) look similar to T.chebula. How can one differentiate the fruits
To me it seems to be Terminalia chebula.
A reply from another thread from …:
Terminalia species, Kaziranga, Assam = T. citrina.
My question is not answered i.e. How can one differentiate T.citrina from T.chebula.
Please look at the fruits:
Terminalia chebula = Fruits prominently 5-ribbed, often stipitate, never narrowing towards apex.
Terminalia citrina = Fruits faintly 5-ridged and grooved (not ribbed), mostly narrowing towards apex.
Please look at the fruits once again and decide yourself.
Thanks … for updating. As the photographs are not clear I could not differentiate.

Terminalia sp. ?
I think close to images at Terminalia citrina Roxb. ex Fleming as per comparative images at Terminalia
Yes …, Considering the locality, this should be T. citrina. Fruiting material desirable.
