I was indeed waiting for this post from you … Because, I too collected this species (for the first time) from the same locality (Sathyamangalam forest, TN) and identified as Vernonia cinerascens (Asteraceae). There is an illustration of this species in BSI’s Flora of India vol. 13, pg 366. Looking forward for more such interesting pictures/species.
