May any one help me this woody scandent unarmed shrub found in the forests of Eastrenghats,
Now I didnot notice the flowers.
fruit is about 2-3cm in size. As it is high on a tree we are unable to pluck it.

… a wild wild guess: some species of Sarcostigma, perhaps Sarcostigma kleinii Wight & Arn.
Reference: sighting during excursion with … in Uttara Kannada (Anmod Ghat).

It is Ximenia americana of Olacaceae.
Fruits are edible, taste sour.

Thanks very much … for the correct ID … my guess was purely based on the lookalike fruit.!
I do have one picture of fruits of Ximenia americana … http://www.flickr.com/photos/photolist-9NNzn8-9BQ7Jn

Thanks … for fixing the thread and for validating the id as well.
Its local Tamil name (in Tiruvannamalai dt.) is “Samara” சமரா.

Swamy/New series/ID/72: 3 images.
I am forwarding herewith the photographs received for ID from a friend. A shrub with fruits found near a shrub jungle in Mysore. Please ID the plant.

Please check Ximenia americana L. 🌿 Family. Olacaceae

Could this be a species of Xymenia ?

Seem to be Sour plum, if plant is shrub. Underutilized fruit of tropics need to be promoted.

I agree with …
