Ajuga reptans
this is a decorative herb and spreads everywhere in the garden. It is also called carpenter’s herb, and has other medicinal values.

Lamiaceae & Verbenaceae Week: Lamiaceae Kriechender Günsel (Ajuga reptans) from my garden in Ritterhude: A creaper in my lawn, difficult to get rid of, as the rhizoms spread unsergroud and in every direction.
A good source of nectar see Bumblebees hovering aroung the flowers.

A carpet forming species with nearly glabrous stoloniferous stems, obovate basal leaves, upper sessile, flowers violet forming close spike in upper portion; corolla exserted. The cultivar has bronze coloured leaves.

Please validate same q. how do you know the exact id. did you get the guidebook at the zoo that tells you what they planted
or was it labelled? I managed to find the label pic….
This is label from the Chicago Bot Gdn.
I don’t have the label from the Brookfield Zoo, I might have labelled the ones from Brookfield Zoo since they looked similar to the one from Chicago Bot Gdn (2nd pic above).

I think closer to images at rather than those at Ajuga reptans L. rather those at Ajuga macrosperma Wall. ex Benth.
Ajuga reptans L. ? Then it could be introduced as not listed in Nepal . Was it cultivated or can it be an escapee from cultivation? It could be planted as it was in a garden !
Observations so far in efi are also of cultivated plants for this species.
