041011-MS – 49- Rosaceae week – garden strawberry:
Attaching the photographs of the garden strawberry, Fragaria × ananassa

Place: A farm in the coastal high way, California. Date 1.8.2009.
One can drive in to the farm, pick up fruits in a basket, get it weighed and purchase. But, not supposed to eat while picking. However, I have observed that most of the people from Asian countries eat stealthily while
picking.

Again F. x ananassa

Looks delicious, ….
But sometimes I wonder what’s so big deal with strawberries! Bought 3 or 4 times, in Kolkata prices hovered around Rs.100 a pack. How many were there in those packs… can’t remember, perhaps 20 to 30 each. Not at all tasty, believe me, though my daughter liked them! I think that was simply because of media hype of icecream and other junk foods! Those from California or other countries must be much more delicious. Else why it is so much popular! To me mangoes are best fruit I have ever ate.
Never mind our rosaceae experts would definitely take care of the id.

Garden Strawberry variety. Could be one of cultivars/ varieties of Fragaria x ananassa
