Cissus quadrangularis- Flora of Madhya Pradesh: Cissus quadrangularis was photographed in a private garden at Betul, MP.
Botanical name- Cissus quadrangularis
Common name- Hadjor / harjor.
It’s a medicinal plant.

This plant is not Cissus quadrangularis rather this is Homalocladium platycladum from Polygonaceae or commonly tapeworm plant.

I forgot to say that you have also tried to label your plant as Devil’s backbone in one of the pictures

which is wrong. The common name Devil’s backbone is usually given to a plant called Pedilanthus
tithymaloides from the family Euphorbiaceae.

Actually d owner told me it z Harjor plant. When I searched net i couldnt match pics bt then I though may b some diff variety .
And Sir, on wikipedia d common name of Cissus quadrangularis is listed as – Devil’s backbone.
So my pic z then- Homalocladium platycladum.

Yes Homalocladium platycladum

I agree with … id. The accepted name as per ‘theplantlist’ is Muehlenbeckia platyclados.

Yes….agree with …

Muehlenbeckia platyclados, Polygonaceae.

1): Yes tapeworm… correct binomial is given above…. nice to see its flowering…
2): Blackbone/backbone whatever…. its a mistake… no matter what the spelling you use…
Pedilanthus tithymaloides stem is round, grows in zig zag fashion at every joint in the stem…
tapeworm stem is flat….biii….iig difference…
3) your pictures are washed out … please check your exposure… i think you are overexposing your
pictures or your camera’s internal setting s have gone awry… have it checked by a camera doctor/repairman… after you check your settings…. the wash-out is slowly increasing in your photos…. during the last few months…
I did not want to say anything because I thought you’ll notice it and correct it… but sometimes we dont know our own because we too close to it…. and like our pictures… like own babies…
BUT NOW ITS TIME SOMEONE SAID SOMETHING>>>>.
hope you take it in the same positive tone its given…
