Palm for ID : 160511 : AK-2: Taken at Jijamata Udyan, Mumbai, Maharashtra on the 4th of Feb, 2011.

Corypha taliera Roxb. “Talier”

Happy to see this plant growing at Mumbai also!
For those who don’t know, this plant has been classified by IUCN under the Red List, as being ‘Extinct in the wild’.
Although being cultivated at A.J.C. Bose Botanic Garden (Indian Botanic Garden), Howrah and the Fairchild Tropical Garden, Florida, USA.

I think this to be Corypha macropoda, a non extinct palm found in India.

Just for you …, Corypha taliera was endemic to west Bengal, now gone but available in gardens.

This is very close to the Talipot Palm in Jijamata Udyan.
Somewhere below it, towards the right side.

I am waiting for it to flower…

Isn’t it Corypha utan Lamk.?

Owing to the blue hue on the plant, I thought of Bismarckia sp.
