Natal Fig is a short fig tree, cultivated as a shrub, reaching around 3 m tall.
It has triangular (rarely obovate), thick, bright green leaves. It produces yellow figs that are eaten by birds.
The species name natalensis refers to the plants origin in Natal, a province in east South Africa.

It´s a very similar plant, possibly closely related to Ficus deltoidea (Delta Fig). They share the same leaf shape and round, yellow figs. An interesting feature of the Natal Fig is that the mid vein of the leaf forks just before reaching the tip.

Ficus triangularis

My question is both the species of Ficus stated above has triangle leaf

how to differentiate?

This does look like Ficus triangularis to me.

… this is Ficus natalensis!!

After checking on Google search, none of the pictures shown resemble Ficus natalensis.
Rather they resemble Ficus triangularis.
Experts kindly verify.

… please look at the stalk of fruit. It is much longer in traingularis and shorter in natalensis.

Flowers of India

I too think that this is F. natalensis
Virboga

Further, this would be a subspecies of F. natalensis, as … pointed out ie. Ficus natalensis subsp. leprieurii (Miq.) C.C.Berg. If so, F triangularis is a synonym of Ficus natalensis subsp. leprieurii (Miq.) C.C.Berg.

Requesting to please ID this plant captured at the Flower Show 2014 at Jijamata Udyan, Mumbai in February 2014.

Is it a ficus? The shape of the leaf is very peculiar..

Ficus triangularis

Natal Fig ‘Variegata’

Thank you … for ID…..

Is it Ficus natalensis ssp. leprieurii??

I don’t think so.

There seems to be some confusion…….
The plant list lists Ficus triangularis as a synonym of Ficus natalensis ssp. leprieurii…..

Ficus triangularis is not an accepted name…
