Kalatope id al160711: Location Kalatope, Chamba Beauty… may be there is A usefulness to its being green, so that mammals who can see colors would miss it and not eat it? may be there is a reason for such color? does some one know the story? I just discovered that it has a better resemblance to Epipactis helleborine .. is from the same family or a var… Epipactis but sp yet to confirm. May be E royleana. In Flowers of Himalya by Polunin and Stainton E royleana has been described as having green flowers with red veined and with yellowish or reddisgh lip. But google search does not seems to agree. Current pic taken in Valley of Flowers, going further up from the inner bridge among the forest floor. Not so common. Sorry the plan is in bud and it was not close so I had to use tele I assume. Not a good pic. …, seems not possible for me to locate this plant unless shown to me at a finger’s distance. …, it was part of FRLHT’s nation-wide explorations for documentation of medicinal and Red Listed plants. Dr. Goraya, I.F.S. (also a member of eFI), lead this survey in August 2007. I don’t remember the exact location but it was near Shimla, a pine + Quercus forest.
