Very nice pictures … It is a species of Rynchosia, probably R. cyanosperma? (cyan = blue; sperm = seed).

I think you tried to mean Rhynchosia cyanosperma. According to plant list R. cyanosperma is now considered as a synonym of Rhynchosia hirta. Thanks
for the ID quite and interesting looking plant

Plant for ID – 06022012 Sirumalai -1 – Fabaceae: Please id this plant
Location: Sirumali Forest, Dindigul
Date : 6th Feb 2012
Habitat : Semievergreen forest
Habit : Climber
Altitute : abt 500 metres

One of the Fabaceae member. Could this be a species of Vigna!

This should be Rhynchosia hirta. The seeds are bluish.

The flowers were almost greenish and not not more than 1.5cm across; the whole plant (climber-shrub) was hairy.

I agree with … This does look like Rhynchosia hirta. I had seen this at Yana, Karnataka.

Family:  Fabaceae
Location: Yana, Karnataka

Wonderful upload … thanks !!

Please help with any name(s) for Rhynchosia hirta in Telugu.

As per Flowers of India, it is called ADAVI KANDULU– అడవి కందులు
Cajanus albicans, Cajanus scarabaeoides and Rhyncosia suaveolens are also called Adavikandulu

Adavi means forest; kandulu means red gram, as the seed looks like redgram they are called Adavikandulu

Thank you very very much … for this help, and for the etymology.

Please help me in getting the name kaaltavaraikkodi for Rhynchosia hirta; reference: Embryology and Apomixis in Grasses by T. Pullaiah, G. N. V. Febulaus

The name would make sense to me if the letter “l” removed.

Kaatavaraikkodi (= wild lablab bean) will transcribe to காட்டவரைக்கொடி
The original name “kaaltavaraikkodi” can be written as கால்தவரைக்கொடி which I am not sure about.

Thank you very much … I will go with காட்டவரைக்கொடி kaatavaraikkodi
