Gentiana venusta (Gentianaceae) photographed in Bhagwabasa area (Chamoli) Uttarakhand. 4500m altitude.
This looks correctly identified to me. Found from 3300-4800m in Kashmir. Flowers of Himalaya says open slopes & peaty ground Pakistan to Central Nepal @ 3000-5800m. Coventry called it the ‘Charming Gentian’ in ‘Wild Flowers of Kashmir’ as the species name is derived from the Latin “venustus” meaning charming or beautiful. This gentian is mentioned in ‘The Valley of Flowers’ book. Last time I saw it was on the exceptional Sinthan Pass in Himachal Pradesh.
It is interesting to note that G.venusta was growing between the rosettes of an Androsace which I believe is A. globifera.

I saw many in the bud stage but did not see any opened flowers in the area.
