Potamogeton lucens from Dal Lake Kashmir: Potamogeton lucens Linn., Sp. Pl. 126. 1753.
Common name: Shining pondweed
Perennial aquatic herb with submerged leaves; leaves with 2-15 mm long petiole, translucent, elliptic-lanceolate to lanceolate, up to 15 cm long, 2-3 cm broad, 9-11 veined, margin undulate, minutely denticulate; stipules free, up to 7 cm long, 2-keeled; flowers small in 3-6 cm long dense spike on up to 20 cm long peduncle; carpels 4; fruit ovoid, 3-5 mm long with distinct beak.
