PAPHIOPEDILUM FAIRIEANUM:   In 2002 I was at Tezpur. Dr Ashish Kar was woking as a research scholar at the Defence Research Laboratory at Tezpur. We were friends. One day he gave me a plant and told me that he has collected it from Arunachal Pradesh and the name of the orchid is Lady’s Slipper. One Dr Chakraborty from Gouhati university told me that this orchid will not bloom at Tezpur or any other area in the plains. I carried this orchid to Binnaguri where I was posted and in 2004 I saw the first flower. After my retirement I settled at Cooch Behar in 2005. It gave beautiful flowers for two years. Unfortunately I lost this wonderful orchid. It has been kindly idendified for me by Dr Datla C S Raju, who does not requre much introduction. I am thankful to him. Attaching an image of that beauty.
