I think it may have been a young palm. My 2 pics were taken at ground level if I remember correctly.
Hopefully someone may confirm whether it is A Fish tail palm.

so, … thinks this might be Wallichia oblongifolia? that’s dwarf fishtail palm…. how small does it have to be to qualify for a dwarf? plus any distinguishing features that are obvious in the photographs given to us?
