This is a very common tree in Guindy National park.
…. You are right. The name is due to the umbrella like canopy.

Acacia planifrons Wight & Arn, introduced tree in the dry hills of Krishnagiri dt, Tamilnadu,
canopy is just like umbrella.

I still remember the bite of the spines. I think that recently the name has changed.  Please confirm.

Acacia Species : White Flowers : Nasik : 08JUL22 : AK – 01: 8 images.
Seen growing wild this week (8.7.22).

Light was very low due to cloud cover.
I will try taking better images in proper sunlight.
