This grass is from my homeyard, as slim as a pin.
Species : UNKNOWN
Habit & Habitat : grass in front-yard
  • about 15 cm high
  • leaves : 3.5 cm x 0.25 cm
  • raceme 2, 4.5 cm
Date : 15/8/12, 12.03 P.M.
Place : Nalikul (Hooghly)

This could be some species of Digitaria, i am not sure about species but could be D. sanguinalis,
… would be best, who can tell more about the species.

Thank you very much for the probable ID of this grass. In one of my earlier post …elaborated on D. sanguinalisefi thread.
I think, not sure though, i can see the following features of Digitaria sanguinalis in my pictures –

  1. stiffer raceme
  2. zig zag winged rachis
  3. larger upper glume

This grass is Digitaria timorensis.

Another 1 ft. grass, looks like earlier identified as Digitaria timorensis.

efi page on Digitaria radicosa syn. Digitaria timorensis (Kunth) Balansa

Stenotaphrum dimidiatum

I am afraid that this doesn’t look like Stenotaphrum dimidiatum (L.) Brongn., for this grass in this thread looks entirely different than what I see in FoI or in http://idao.cirad.fr/indexpageID=3 (5th from top).
If I do not make grave mistake this is Digitaria and most likely D. radicosa as in efi thread
