VOF Week: Another Orchid from VOF: This is yet another terrrestrial orchid seen at VOF.
Family: Orchidaceae. Date/Time: 08-08-2012/ 03:00PM. Were the flowers yellow or WHITE? To me this looks like Herminium josephi. Beautiful Orchid Sir. I have a similar photograph and will post it in future. I think we also got this..but in a later stage of development, floral structures were not so clearly visible…I will post this soon for validation… did you visit Valley of Flowers OR Valley of Orchids ? This is looks like Androcorys josephi (Rchb.f.) Agrawala & H.J.Chowdhery, Kew Bull. 65: 106 (2010). What ever pics I have seen so far, are actually Herminium josephi and it is very well found in Uttarakhand. How it is called Androcorys josephi. I cannot see the live specimen of Herminium josephi till now but going through literature according to structure of lip in the pictures its Herminium josephi. H.J.Chowdhery described this species as Herminium josephi in his work Orchid Flora of Arunachal Pradesh (1998, pp 453), again Agrawala & H.J.Chowdhery described this species as Androcorys josephi (2010).

The orchid was far away and I could not click the leaves.
