Fabaceae – Mimosoideae- week. Acacia nilotica from Coimbatore: Sharing the images of Acacia nilotica from NBNP, Coimbatore.

Acacia nilotica has several subspecies. Would be interesting to know exact subspecies. Surely not subsp. indica, any chance of subsp. hemispherica??

The pods are the most distinguishing characters in identifying the ssp. in A.nilotica. On comparision of the pods in the FAO article, the species is comparable to A. nilotica ssp. subulata for me. Please go through the link http://www.fao.org/docrep/006/Q2934E/Q2934E04.htm

You may also recheck the characters. The physical verification will be the best. Give a try to arrive at the ID
