It is my pleasure to share few images of a queer looking 8-lobed Caralluma adscendens var fimbriata (Apocynaceae) Normally the corolla lobes are 5 in number. Whether 8-lobed phenomenon is common or is it queer…?? Habit: Perennial herb. Habitat: Xerophytic, Scrub forest Sighting: Chikmagalur, Karnataka, about 1200 msl Date: 12-04-2016
Very interesting observation.
It is common on same plant to have 4, 5 ,6 lobed flowers 8 lobes seeing for first time
Pictures speak. Same plant different days. 1 composite image. Nice pictures and interesting observations!
