Cucurbitaceae Week: Cucumis melo subsp. melo Group Cantapaulensis: Cultivated melons come in a large range of forms, but are grouped into three main groups:

1. Group Cantapaulensis: Cantaloupes having variety of skin forms but with non-netted thick skin and yellowish-orange flesh with distinct aroma.
2. Group inodorous: Smooth thin skinned melons with white or greenish flesh without strong aroma.
3. Group reticulatus: distinctly netted skin and lighter coloured flesh

This is from the market in Bangalore.
Found green lines near the stem.


I suppose this is typical Linnean species of Cucumis melo  

This fruit is sold in most of the markets of Bangalore, even in Mumbai in the name of  kharbooja

Section showing flesh should help but looks C. melo subsp. cantalupo, muskmelon (cantaloupe here in USA) if flesh is orange yellow
