botanical talk this evening at 6:30 at the India International Centre , Delhi: I don’t know if you live in Delhi or not, but this is an alert for what is likely to be a very good botanical talk this evening at 6:30 at the India International Centre by Henry Noltie of the Royal Botanic Garden at Edinburgh. It’s about Scottish surgeons who commissioned Indian artists to draw plant specimens in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, and draws extensively on the superb collection of these paintings in the collection in Edinburgh.

Thank you very much for this forward. I have been wanting to learn more on this subject ever since I was gifted a print of the Deodar by Ravenscroft. I became more curious after … posted the wonderful banyan painting and also mentioned about plenty of paintings of Bombay’s Victoria Gardens etc.
Unfortunately, I am not in Delhi but my cousin who is a keen gardener will attend it and send me the news. |
