Id plz:
can anyone help me id this plant
its a tree, photographed at Amboli MH about 15days back (Posted on 16.2.12)

The flower looks like plant belongs to the family Celastraceae. It would be of great help if you can provide additional information such as place where you see this species, time of flowering, any information on fruits, height of the plant etc…
Preferably please upload (in this thread itself) a habit picture of the tree, if you have one.

please look up the recent thread about Rhamnus wightii. I think this is the same plant although it would be helpful to know details of size of plant and habitat. The habitat of the Rhamnus sp. is very specific.

Thank you all for helping me id
plant in pi 41 & 42 is identified as Ventilago bombaiensis Family Rhamnaceae
Id credit : …

I’m confused because in the post you said it’s a tree!
Ventilago bombaiensis is a straggling liana.

It could possibly be a Ventilago sp. although Ventilago spp. are not trees.
The pics. are insufficient for a positive id.

Identified as: Gouania sp. by …

Family: Rhamnaceae

Gouania species so far in efi

Please see this link: http://florakarnataka.Gouania%20microcarpa/167.pdf.jpg
Gouania sp. have long spicate panicles and tendrils whereas the plant that … and I have photographed have neither of these. So perhaps Gouania sp. may be ruled out.

Identified by … in … post as Smythea bombaiensis
