The identifying character is the plano-convex spikelet (One side is flat and other side is convex). Among different species of Cyrtococcum, only C.accrescence has a fully expanded open panicle. All other species have different degrees of constrictions. Another character of this genus is that all the parallel veins arising from the base of the leaf again merge together towards the tip of the leaf.

This grass is found in dense shade on forest floor and road sides in forest fringes. Also found in gardens under shade.

I have four grass names which I am very confused with. If anyone knows few things about this names please let me know.
1. Cryptococcum accrescens
2. Tripogon capllaris
3. Hordeum vulgare subsp. vulgare
4. Mnesithea laevis var. laevis
I need to get the authority of the names, photosynthetic pathway (C3/C4)

1. Cyrtococcum accrescens (Trin.) Stapf

2. Tripogon capillatus Jaub. et Spach
3. Hordeum vulgare Linn.
4. Mnesithea laevis (Retz.)Kunth
All these have C3 pathway.

grass for ID – Wayanad – 23022014-NAW1 : 5 posts by 2 authors.
Kindly identify this grass photographed mid-Jan 2014 at the Gurukula Botanical Sanctuary, North Wayanad, Kerala.

The inflorescence seems of an Isachne. Much of the foliage seems to belong to Oplismenus compositus (note broad, clasping, wavy leaf blades and inflorescence in upper left corner). Hope this helps.
