Herb for ID from N Karnataka :  Attachments (1). 6 posts by 5 authors.

Please help ID of this herb found in rocky river bed in N Karnataka in Oct.
Stem angular about 50 cm tall, leaves opposite or whorled at nodes, 3-5 cm, narrowly obovate, acute.
Flowers in globose heads (1 cm) at nodes.

Any possibility of this being Hyptis capitata (Lamiaceae)???

… no dear …, flower looks different.

I think this should be from Rubiaceae..

It could be Mitracarpus hirtus. Please check this link

I could not proceed with the link but it is indeed Mitracarpus hirtus. Thank you so much for the quick lead.

I think more closer to Spermacoce verticillata L. rather than Mitracarpus hirtus

വിദേശ videsha is not appropriate, more good is single name same tharuthaaval or tharuthaval.

It is good to give a prefix to the name tharuthaaval or tharuthaval. … otherwise all Spermacoce spp. will be known by only one name.
I added വിദേശ videsha (= foreign) to imply that this particular species is introduced and now has got naturalized in some parts of south India.
Is there any other word that we can stick to tharuthaaval ?  … It will be a great help.
If not, I will go ahead to change the name and reduce it to just tharuthaaval.
