The lentil (Lens culinaris) (International Feed Number, 5-02-506) is an edible pulse/bean.

It is a bushy annual plant of the legume family, grown for its lens-shaped seeds. It is about 40 centimetres (16 in) tall and the seeds grow in pods, usually with two seeds in each (Ref. Wikipedia)

Saw many masoor fields near Saptashrungi, Nashik in Feb 2017. They were in harvest stage.
