QUERY :: Marathi name of Scleropyrum pentandrum : please help me with the name of Scleropyrum pentandrum (Denn.) Mabberley in Marathi.
Many thanks … for following up on this query.
Since there is no known name for this plant in Marathi, I am giving a name कुक्कुरदंत kukkuradanta, literal meaning – dog tooth, कुक्कुर = dog; दंत = tooth.
In Kannada (ನಾಯಿಕುಳಿ naayikuli) and Tulu (ನಾಯಿಕ್ಕೂಲಿ naaikkuli) – the names literally mean “dog tooth” … due to plant’s well-known therapeutic efficacy against dog bite.
