This species was shot from my village in Kaithal in March 2013.. I hope this is a carex species, Carex fedia Nees ??

This must be Carex fedia Nees, because –
  1. none has objected to the ID proposed 😛
  2. no photo can be found in the net, except herbarium – 1) http://eol.org/data_objects/16118870 2) http://www.iiim.res.in/herbarium/cyperaceae/images/carex_wallichiana.jpg 3) http://www.iiim.res.in/herbarium/cyperaceae/images/carex_fedia.jpg
Flora of British India informs “allied to C. hirta L.”. Many photo of C. hirta can be found in the net.
Thank you very much for sharing this beautiful plant, i am learning.

Thanks for the feedback and detailed research … for now I take this as Carex fedia..

About 150 species in FBI !!! Almost all are confined in Himalayan regions, either in west or east. These plants are too tough to tackle. We say BAAP RE in such situation.

Yes …, we can only salute those dedicated workers…

I too often wonder how the botanists could describe the tiniest flowers, those days, when there was no modern equipment. Such precision can only be compared with those amazing century old hand-made swiss watches.
